If you wish to work while studying in Australia, it is possible providing you have a relevant work visa. It is believed that more than 30% of international students receive some form of income from employment while studying.

If you are considering working while studying abroad, you should consider
carefully how much time you need to study and how much time you will have
free for work. You do need to do well in your studies as well!

It is a good idea to try to get work somewhat related to your future career
– you can also participate in an internship or volunteer program if you want
further advance your workplace experience. There are many benefits of
working in Australia, one of which is gaining invaluable work
experience at an international company.

However, some international students also take the option of an ‘easy’ job
in order to focus more fully on study while earning money. This option is
good if you wish to remain focussed on study whilst enhancing your workplace
experience.

If you wish to find out more, most university campuses in Australia will have a Career Development Office or something similar, where you will find support and assistance in finding and applying for a job in Australia.

There is no limit to where you work – international students are able to
find work in any area and any field. The most popular jobs for international
students tend to include restaurants, retail, office work, nannying, and
tutoring.

Students typically earn between A$6-15 an hour, depending on the
type of work done and your age. Students are also able to earn more if
working on weekends and public holidays.
